Corbis Entertainment

Corbis Entertainment was a big step in transitioning into the entertainment world and a precursor to launching the Branded Entertainment Network. Corbis had been building out a suite of products and services already and had recently purchases Norm Marshall & Associates, an agency who specialized in product integration. After the purchase they were transitioned to providing the services under the Corbis brand and we needed a place to feature their work and introduce people to our entertainment product suite.

While the website was fairly straight forward, I had already begun work on the Branded Entertainment Network so the work was divided up. I was to handle the homepage and case studies while another designer followed up with the rest of the site.

1. Homepage

Most important to the newly acquired company was to establish their pre-existing reputation under the Corbis umbrella and to do that we needed to heavily feature case studies of their work. Secondly, we wanted to feature our suite of entertainment products and services. Finally, Corbis was just beginning to see the value in content marketing and saw this as an opportunity to drive some of that effort.

2. Case Studies Landing Page

We already had a number of case studies from Norm Marshall’s archives but we also wanted to include some for our other products as well. Initially the page would load with ‘All services’ selected but users could select from a menu to view only the service that interested them. Case studies were used as a deep dive into a given project, whether that was product integration, rights representation, or clearance and the service used was clearly represented. Clicking on image, title, or ‘See more’ link all took the user to the individual case study.

3. Case Study

Individual case studies could take a variety of formats. Shown is an example of a product integration focused on a brand interaction with both a television show and celebrity at once culminating in the results of the project.

Additional Thoughts

This was by no means a complex or involved project but I find that marketing work is as important to any business as it’s products. In that respect the project was a success and I was happy to contribute as a designer. In recent years, Corbis actually sold the name and closed shop on it’s image licensing business, selling it’s catalog of assets to Getty images. Instead they have focused their business solely on their entertainment offering. It is interesting to look back and see my work in such a big part of that transition and from that respect it’s hard to take a project like this for granted.
