Moz Icon Library
Shown is just a sampling of the icons I created and refined to support the various Moz products as we pulled them closer to our unified branding. Default icon size was 24×24 and 16×16 for the smaller sizes. As part of our brand strategy I created and followed a set of guidelines: line based iconography with 1px corner radii to match our existing brand illustrations, 2px lines for shapes with 1px details at the native 24×24 size, and minimal usage of ‘fill’ elements.
Additional Thoughts
Prior to creating this icon set, I hadn’t had much experience with using or manipulating SVGs. Prior to this icon sets that I’d worked on were exported as a font. At this point though, I have definitely grown to see the benefits of using SVGs especially given their simplicity and flexibility. In addition to the icon set another teammate and I began tinkering with animation which lead to some really fun and interesting work on his part for Moz’s marketing material.
